Day 01 in Negombo
Once you are picked up from the airport and dropped at the hotel, you can enjoy the golden sun kissed beaches of this famous Western coastal town – Negombo. Guests are able to enjoy some energetic water sports that are high adrenalin activities. You can even enjoy some deep sea diving and swim among an old shipwreck with corals and schools of fish who have settled well within the wreckage.
Beaches of Negombo
Enjoy the sun on the sandy beaches of Negombo on the Western Coast of Sri Lanka. Watch the flourishing fish industry, which is a centuries-old tradition. Ride an adrenaline high with some fun water sports. Enjoy the corals and underwater life while diving. See the 50-year-old ship-wreck just off the coast, where many varieties of fish make their home.
Day 02 in Anuradhapura
Heading towards Anuradhapura, you will first make a visit to Panduwasnuwara which was briefly the capital of Sri Lanka. You can walk among the ancient ruins that consist of the palace, image houses, pagodas, meeting halls and the temple of the tooth relic. There are many legends that surround these ruins. Next you will be heading towards the Wilpattu National Park to enjoy an unforgettable jeep safari where you can try your luck to spot the endangered Sri Lankan leopard and the Sri Lankan elephant. You will also encounter other wildlife species such as amphibians, monkeys, reptiles, rare birds etc.
Start your journey at 0700 hrs from your hotel in Negombo. You will be met by a designated chauffer guide from Lakpura Travels. After the formalities at the hotel you will be escorted to your air conditioned vehicle and proceed to Willapttu, en route make a pause at Panduwasnuwara and visit the Ancient Kingdom. (Travel Time – 2 to 2 ½ hrs)
Explore the ancient kingdom of Panduwasnuwara, which was briefly the capital during the 12th century. Wander amongst the ruins of the city with its pagodas, image houses, meeting halls and the citadel. Visit the now restored former temple of the tooth relic, which lies just outside the citadel's walls. View the palace and listen to the many legends that surround it.
Thereafter continue to Wilpattu and go on a lovely jeep safari in Wilpattu National Park. (Travel Time – 2 to 2 ½ hrs)
Wilpattu National Park Safari
Feel the call of the wild with the Wilpattu National Park Safari. Get a chance to catch sight of the elusive Sri Lankan Leopard and famous Sri Lankan Elephant. See hundreds of other wildlife such as deer, buffalo, monkeys, crocodiles, and rare birds. Get the photographs of a lifetime as you become one with nature. On completion of the safari, proceed to Anuradhapura, check in to the hotel and relax. (Travel Time – 40 to 50 mins)
Day 03 in Sigiriya
You can check out the ruins of the ancient city of Anuradhapura which was the first capital of ancient Sri Lanka. You can experience the grandeur of the majestic temples, monastic buildings, pagodas, ponds and various statues and structures that replicate a religion, culture and following of Sri Lanka. There are many massive stupas and monasteries that you will be able to view.
After breakfast at the hotel and check out and proceed to airport for your departure after spending a memorable time in this island.
City of Anuradhapura
Walk through the ancient ruined city of Anuradhapura, which was the capital for over a millennium until the 10th century AD. View the pagodas, monastic buildings and ponds that are scatter all over the vast area. Visit important landmarks such as Jetavanarama, which was one of the tallest buildings of the ancient world, the Sri Maha Bodhi and the ruins of the huge Abhayagiri Monastery. Gain more knowledge about Sri Lanka's history as you walk in the footsteps of Kings.
Day 04 in Sigiriya
You will be spending your stay at an Eco Lodge where you can also enjoy a dip in one of its natural pools. You can walk along the stream that flows nearby and enjoy nature at its best with the beautiful surroundings.
Dehigaha Ela Eco Lodge
Trek along the stream and have dip in the natural pools This, without doubt, is the favourite activity of visitors to Dehigaha Ela Eco Lodge. The cold and sparkling Dehigaha Ela stream falls into the murky warm Kiri Oya River at the edge of the lodge. Let the tumbling water massage you, allow the cheeky fish nibble at your toes, or just disappear in to the cool pools of water.
Day 05 in Kandy
The final day will be spent where guests will enjoy a village walk with a well trained guide. You will be shown and educated about the traditional lifestyle of the villagers. You can learn about the local cuisine, spices, vegetable etc, You can also enjoy a swim in the river as well.
Village Walk
Trek in the village with One of the trained Village Guides through quaint villages, show you the traditional village lifestyle and how they attend to their household chores. The walk also includes a look at the different vegetables, fruits and spices that are locally grown such as Cocoa, Pepper, Cloves, Nutmeg, Vanilla. and how jaggery (local sugar) is made from the flower of the Kithul tree. The village walks ends with a river swim where you can mingle with locals washing their clothes and dipping their heads in the water or choose to swim in what some may call your private natural swimming pool. A new addition is a newly found waterfall which includes a 1km walk through a jungle
Departure
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and proceed directly to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure from Sri Lanka after spending a memorable time on the island.
