Nicknamed as Little England, Nuwara Eliya which means “City of Light” is located cosily in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. A much loved and popular destination among tourists and locals alike, the city was once a holiday destination for British civil servants during the colonial rule while some buildings have still managed to retain these features. Some of the most notable places include the Grand Hotel, the Queen’s Cottage, the General’s House, the Hill Club, the Post Office and St. Andrew’s Hotel.
